Nurturing Independence and Confidence in Every Child

Supporting Young Minds and Bodies to Reach Their Full Potential

Our Occupational Therapy program is designed to support children in achieving their highest level of independence and success in daily activities. We work with children who experience challenges with movement, coordination, attention, sensory processing, and everyday tasks.

Our paediatric OT services support children with:

  • Developmental delays
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
  • ADHD
  • Down syndrome
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Learning difficulties, Handwriting and motor coordination challenges

Key Areas We Focus:

  • Fine Motor Skills
  • Gross Motor Skills
  • Self-Care
  • Sensory Integration
  • Social Skills
  • School Readiness

Our Approach

Every session is customized based on a child’s unique needs, strengths, and interests. We collaborate closely with families, teachers, and other professionals to ensure consistent support across all environments.

Initial Assessment:

  • Observations: The therapist first observes the child’s abilities, challenges, and interactions in various settings (home, school, play).

  • Parent/Teacher Interviews: Gathering information from caregivers and teachers about the child’s daily activities, routines, strengths, and difficulties.

  • Standardized Assessments: These may include tools like the Peabody Developmental Motor Scales (PDMS) or the Sensory Processing Measure to evaluate specific areas.

Therapeutic Interventions:

  • Fine Motor Skills: Activities to develop hand strength, dexterity, and coordination, such as playing with building blocks, cutting with scissors, or practicing drawing shapes.

  • Gross Motor Skills: Activities to develop coordination, improve balance and giving strengthening exercises.

  • Sensory Integration Therapy: For children with sensory processing challenges, this can help them tolerate and respond more appropriately to sensory inputs (e.g., sounds, textures, lights).

  • Self-care Skills: Encouraging independence in dressing, brushing teeth, eating, and other daily tasks.

  • Social Skills Training: Helping children learn how to initiate and maintain conversations, understand body language, and regulate emotions.

  • Play Therapy: Play is essential in child development. Therapists often use play-based interventions to improve coordination, problem-solving, and social skills.

Review:

  • Reassessment: Regularly revisiting the child’s progress and adjusting the goals or activities based on improvements or challenges.

  • Gradual Independence: The ultimate goal of OT is for the child to gain independence and function effectively in daily life without ongoing therapy.
